First thing about this place. Order for pickup. DO NOT get the delivery. We live less than a mile away. We've tried to get delivery on several occasions. Every time it took over an hour. One time we had waited two hours and still no food!!! DO NOT get the delivery. Ok, so you're going to pick your food up (eating in is not an option - this is a to-go place one way or another). You call to order.... unfortunately, they do not speak english very well. Not knocking the people, they are very nice. It's just that when you are primarily a to-go joint, and your only interaction with customers is over the phone, it pays to have someone who can communicate clearly taking the orders. You waste less time on the phone, can answer more call, and have more accurate orders so people don't get upset. Anyway, the food is generally average for take out chinese. There are a couple bright spots though. The spicy beef is very, very good if you like a dish with some pop to it. The triple delight is also a tasty and mild dish. The chicken chow mein is not at all like traditional chow mein. It's almost like a salad... chicken on top of shredded vegetables with very little sauce. It's interesting and pretty good as long as you know what to expect (like don't get disappointed it's not traditional chow mein). The prices are a little, and just a little, bit more than they should be. Because it's so close, and because the food is almost always ready within 10 minutes of calling, we keep going back and enjoy the place. Just MAKE SURE you pick the food up and drive out there as soon as you hang up. Once your food is ready, it sits in a paper bag on the counter. They don't have warmers or heat lamps or anything keeping it heated while you wait. You will be disappointed with a bunch of cold food if you wait too long to pickup, or if you are a bonehead and didn't listen to me and get it delivered :-)

Please someone beat me over the head for trying this place out! Yes the food tasted OK but it's full of MSG. My coworker and I experienced a migraine/headache within minutes of finishing our meal. The veggies are cooked to perfection but the MSG is so very NOT forgivable. Please have a warning.... The meat was not cut consistently for even cooking. It could have better service because service is what makes or break a business. Someone needs to tell these guys.... sheesh

I've been trying to discover and locate more places to eat on the Eastside that are not named Sonic or McDonalds. So when i got the Ming's menu flyer in thr mail, i was elated. I ordered steamed dumplings and moo goo gai pan. The dumplings were pretty good; the moo goo gai pan was as well, although it was a little bland. A bit tasteless, actually. But all in all, pretty good food. Delivery time was very acceptably short, and only ran me an extra buck. I want to try a couple more dinners from Ming's before i make a final decision as to my return to Sonic.

We've been ordering delivery from Mings for so many years now I can't really remember when we started (more than 6). We used to order at least 2-4 times per month because we lived right off Payne Ave. in the lower eastside where nobody wants to deliver anything but pizza. Now there are several Chinese delivery places on Arcade that cover the neighborhood as well, but Mings has been consistently much better quality than competitors like Great Dragon. Delivery can take an hour sometimes but it's nowhere near as unreliable as previous reviewers claim. We order delivery food from someone at least 3 times per week so I think I've got realistic expectations for delivery times and Mings service falls well within the norm. It's totally worth ordering because other than South Chine Island Inn (who have a very small delivery area) this is the best Chinese food you're gonna get walked to your door in the Payne/Phalen or Daytons Bluff area. If you're a raging carnivore and enjoy savory onions/scallions, and a little heat, try the Mongolian Beef (it's just a generous pile of tasty beef tossed with sliced onion, scallion, and a spicy brown sauce - no other vegetables needed). The shrimp entrees are excellent (though they give medium-sized shrimp in the lunch special combos and full-sized tiger shrimp in the dinner entrees). I don't really recommend anything with chicken as the only meat because their chicken is bland (for example, the pork egg fu young is good but the chicken version is just meh). General Tso's and Sesame Chicken are usually very good. Sweet and sour entrees and egg fu young all come with the sauce/gravy on the side (keeps things from getting soggy or being overwhelmed by gravy). Fried rice is much better than the other Chinese places who deliver on the eastside (except South China Island, where the shrimp fried rice has no equal). For appetizers, we like the teriyaki chicken (hearty chunks/strips of white meat in a tasty red sauce), dumplings, and fried chicken wings (they are whole wings with a crispy golden batter and delicious flavor). The hot and sour soup and house special soup (wontons, broth, and large chunks of tender veggies like broccoli, carrot, and mushrooms) are both good but the egg drop is too bland for us. Canned pop is available and we find they do a great job of bringing plastic utensils, napkins, sauces, and cookies to complete the meal. Also, I gotta say I am annoyed that any white people would complain about a language barrier at Mings. They speak English just fine (and will read everything in the order back to you so you can catch errors right off). It is not a place where nobody seems to understand or speak English (call Saigon Express on Arcade if you want to experience the difference!) The woman who typically answers at Mings is fast, accurate and no miscommunications so far. If I can understand them, it's not an issue (seriously, I'm white as hell).

Been going here for years. No-frills american style chinese food, reasonably priced and usually quickly prepared. I like the Family Bean Curd and Sezchuan Bean Curd. I wouldn't dine in - there's only a couple tables and I would feel like I'm on display.

I am pleased with the food quantity they serve, so much food for the price. I had Shrimp Lo Mein and it tastes delicious. I would love to eat there again. I am a little disappointed though about not having the choice to eat in the restaurant. The chairs were put away on the tables and I had to bring the food back to the hotel where I stayed at with my family. It left me thinking that they put away the chairs because they didn't want to deal with cleaning up the tables. It can also be nice if they added crab ragoon into their menu, instead of cheese wontons. Overall, a nice experience, I'll go there again!

This is my "go to" chinese takeout/delivery restaurant. The sesame chicken is fantastic and I really enjoy their hot and sour soup and Mu Shu Chicken as well. I'm pretty sure they know who I am as soon as I order since it rarely changes!

Lady argued with me about how far away they were from my house even though I had mapped it already. Therefore they wouldn't delivery the order that I wanted because I wasn't enough money!

I ordered from these guys tonight an man what a joke. I told the lady exactly what I wanted according to the numbers on THEIR menu. When it arrived it was way off. I called to honestly just let them know. I wasn't looking for free food. I just wanted her to know it was wrong and perhaps they gave my order to someone else. She instantly started accusing me of ordering the wrong food saying "you order wrong food then cut I check with cook and he made you kung pow chicken." Well he didn't. Not to mention I'm surprised you could ask him so quick seeing as I'm on the phone with you and you didn't ask anyone anything. Finally I just gave up. Pointless to argue with her over her mistake. On the plus tho, the delivery driver was very sweet and very nice. I felt bad for ordering food on such a cold night I made sure to tip him well. He must be the only saving grace that place has. Will never order from them again!

Would be a 5 star but some times they mess up and the dinning room needs improvement and less clutter. But the food tends to be good. They are more of a order to go type of place but still ok for dining in at the restaurant. I pass up at least 4 other restaurants that have this type of food cause they tend to be better.I don't know about there delivery service quality as I don't live within the delivery zone.when I do go there they tend to remember me and what I tend to order without me even having to say a single word to any one. They tend to be friendly.I wish I could eat there more often than I do.if you don't at least try there food you will never know how good there food is just don't try only one of there dishes you mite not like every thing but I'm sure you will find many that you do like! I hope to eat there again soon!

Shrimp toast is to die for. And you probably will if you eat too many of these tasty, deep fried little devils. Beef broccoli & house fried rice also quite good. I gotta give the delivery guys credit. I've orderd from Mings in some pretty awful weather and they always show up on time. This is a very good delivery place.

3 stars for delivery ,because when the weather is below zero and I'm hungry this is your average run of the mill Chinese (everything on the menu in a brown sauce taste the same place), but for delivery to my door in below zero weather, it works

I have very few delivery options where I live but the are the best Asian food that delivers to my home. The food is decent not great. But I do love the Mongolian beef it's got a great amount of spice. The meals that have onions are almost always raw onions that were tossed into the pan to cook. The man that delivers is so kind I always tip him well. The ladies that answer the phone are often hard to understand but I have patience when it comes to ensuring my food order is understood. The delivery always takes far longer than it should but it is fairly busy and only seen 1 driver. If you can pick it up it would be better, the food is normally cooked promptly after you call. The shop is small and not for eating in.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
